Music video
Russian Village Boys music video — a bold puppet visual set to a powerful beat
For this video we built a world where the animation is constantly “turned up” to the maximum: fast editing, sharp cuts and grotesque characters create the right feeling of chaos and energy.
Rhythm in sound and picture
In music videos, stop motion lets you play with rhythm not only in the sound but in the image. We matched the movement of the puppets and the changes of sets to the track so that every beat and pause could be felt visually.
This format works great for artists who want to stand out from classic music videos: a puppet world is memorable and easily associated with the track and the musicians’ image.
Project focus
Working on a music video required synchronising visual rhythm with musical rhythm. Every frame and every movement was created with the beat and the overall mood of the track in mind.
•
Sharp, rhythmic frame-by-frame animation set to the track.
•
Bright puppet characters with grotesque facial expressions.
•
Scenes that work as stand-alone meme frames.
•
A visual style that is easy to recognise and carry on in promotion.
How the dynamic animation was made
Creating fast, dynamic stop-motion animation requires a special approach to editing and rhythm. We used sharp cuts and quick character movements to create a sense of energy and motion that matches the track.
The characters were created with expressive, grotesque facial expressions that read well in fast editing and create memorable images that can work as stand-alone frames on social media.
“A stop-motion music video is a chance to create a unique visual world that becomes an inseparable part of the track. The viewer remembers not only the music but the images.”
Results and applications for other artists
The project showed how stop motion can work for music videos, creating bright, memorable visual images that make an artist stand out and create a recognisable style. This approach suits artists who want to build a unique visual language.
We are ready to create a similar project for your music track, building a dynamic, expressive visual world that becomes part of your image and helps you stand out from the competition.
